Robert La Page and Theatre in Canada

Robert LaPage is a well-known and well respected playwright, director and actor from Canada. He was born in Quebec City, Quebec and has gained international recognition for his work throughout his career. He has become one of the country’s most honored and recognized artistic figures. In addition to Quebec being his place of origin, he also studied there at Quebec City’s Conservatoire d’Art. On top of that, not only was he born, raised and educated in Quebec, he also returned these favors by his enormous contribution to and participation with the theatre community. He joined the Theatre Repere in 1982 and quickly became known for his writing and directing. He served as the Artistic Director for the National Arts Center’s Theatre Francais in Ottawa, and remains highly respected there, as well as throughout the country and the rest of the world. He remained with the company from 1989-1993 and is remembered most for his Shakespeare productions and the play Needles and Opium.

In addition to all of the works that he has created or contributed to, LaPage founded and developed Ex Machina , which is one of the country’s premiere multi-disciplinary production companies. He continues to serve as the company’s Artistic Director and it is with them that he has gained the majority of his international recognition. Productions such as The Seven Streams of the River Ota and Elsinore remain some of the highest critical acclaims he has received. In addition to the stage, LaPage has directed for film, as well as acted for the camera.

Making the Most of a Trip to Banff, Alberta

BanffFew people think of Alberta, Canada as a premiere tourist destination. If it is known at all, it is usually recognized as the home of Calgary , which is something of a tourist destination.
